Chiotis N. Ioannis

Dr. Chiotis N. Ioannis, MD, PhD, MSc, head of Arthrosis Clinic, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Expert in Sports Medicine, has specialized in Arthroscopic Surgery, Orthopaedics and Traumatology with minimally invasive methods, as well as with the latest Robotics Technology. He holds a PhD from the Department of Medicine, Postgraduate Degree from the School of Social Sciences and has received scholarships from the Hellenic Association of Arthroscopy and the Center for Arthroscopy & Shoulder Surgery of Iaso General Hospital.

Dr. Chiotis is Assoc. Director of the 3rd Orthopaedics Clinic of Hygeia Hospital, Member of the Primary Disciplinary Council of the National Anti-Doping Organization (EOKAN) and Scientific Associate of the Athens Medical School – Department of Anatomy.

Filippou Dimitrios

Dr. Dimitrios Filippou was born in Athens in 1970. He studied Medicine at the Medical School of the University of Athens, from which he graduated in 1995. He completed his Ph.D. thesis in 2002 and received the title of Ph.D. of the Medical School of the University of Athens with a degree “Excellent”.

He received the title of General Surgery in 2006. He has been trained and retrained in various centers in Greece, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and Served as Director at the Hospital “Agios Dionysios” in Aegina, and the Clinic “New Athens – Eurotherapy”.

He has taught at various schools of the EKPA and since 2019 that he elected assistant Professor of Anatomy and Surgical Anatomy at the Medical School of the NKUA, is teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. He was recently selected and appointed President of the National Medicines Agency (NTH). He is also Chairman of the Committee for the Negotiation of Drug Prices and Executive Member of the KESY.

He presents important scientific, authorial and research work. He has participated in many research projects. He has numerous scientific publications in reputable International and Greek journals and a significant number of papers in Greek and International Medical Conferences. He has also participated in the translation and editing of many medical books, which are taught in Universities across the country in Medical Schools and other Departments of Health Sciences. He has published books in English with the participation of internationally renowned authors, doctors and researchers, which are published abroad, while he has also participated in the writing of international publications. Finally, he has contributed to the publication of many newsletters for the general public.

He was born in 1968 in Amfilochia and he is married with two children.
In 1985 entered the Medical Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He graduated in July 1991 from the School of Medicine.
He attended the clinical research and educational work of the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Patras from March 1994 until April 1998 during the specialty of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology.
During his studies at the Medical Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he served all the years (6 years) as an Assistant of the Laboratory of Human Descriptive Anatomy.
In May 1998 he obtained the specialty of orthopedic surgeon and traumatology.
In October 1997 he received his Ph.D. of the Medical Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Patras.
In 1998 he was trained in the orthopedic clinic of Balgrist – University of Zurich in Switzerland , under the leading professor Christian Gerber and later (2014) he has been in the orthopedic clinic shoulder department of Massachusetts general hospital, under the leading professor Jon JP Warner.
In April 1999, he became lecturer in Anatomy of the Medical School of Athens University.
In 2019 he was elected Assistant Professor at the Medical School of Athens.
In 2020 he was elected Associate Professor at the Medical School of Athens.
In 1995 he was awarded at National Orthopedic Conference organized by the Greek Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in cooperation with the Swedish Society for Orthopedics.
Until now (2021) he has 58 published foreign language works in the pubmed database.
Total number of citations, as presented in the web of science and scopus v: 450 and Impact Factor: 101.521.
He specializes in knee – hip –shoulder and spine surgery.
For the last 5 years has been applying robotic technology to orthopedics.
He was also doctor in top sports teams such as the National Weightlifting team, Esperos (Α1 basket), Ethnikos Asteras (football) and he is a doctor of the Greek Karate team.

Markopoulos J. Christos

Christos J. Markopoulos, MD, MPhil (UK), PhD, FEBS Professor of Surgery Medical School – National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens – Greece

He qualified from Athens University Medical School in 1979 and he specialized in General Surgery (1985). He received his PhD from Athens University in 1985 and holds an MPhil degree in Oncology–Breast Cancer from St. George’s Medical School, University of London – UK (1988). He specialized in breast cancer management working as Senior Registrar in surgery at the Breast Unit of St. George’s Hospital and Medical School and at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London (1985-1988). He has also worked as research fellow at Ludwing Institute for Cancer Research at Sutton – Surrey, UK (1986-7).

Professor Markopoulos is the current President of the UEMS -Division of Breast Surgery and head of the examination board of the EBSQ in Breast Surgery exams (2016-2020). He has been an elected member of the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists (EUSOMA) Executive Committee (2010 -2016) and he is a member of several medical associations and societies including the UK Association of Breast Surgery at The Royal College of Surgeons (ABS), American College of Breast Surgeons (ACBS) and the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO).

He is the founder of the Hellenic Society of Breast Surgeons (HSBS 2000), which also served as President from 2000 to 2016, when he resigned to focus on UEMS-Division of Breast Surgery, and he was the head of the education, training and clinical trials section of the society.

He is also the head professor of the elective course on “Breast Disease and Cancer” for the students of the final year in the Medical School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece.

Professor Markopoulos is national coordinator and PI in a number of international and national research projects and clinical trials and has published over 300 scientific papers in peer-reviewed international and Greek medical journals with more than 7,000 citations by other authors and a current h-index of 39. He has also authored (4) and edited (17) several books on breast disease and cancer, including the “European textbook of Breast Cancer management for Surgeons” (Springer 2018), official book of the EBSQ exams in Breast Surgery.

He is President of the scientific committee in two Greek Breast Cancer advocacy groups and Europa Donna Hellas. He has organized a large number of national and international postgraduate courses and meetings on breast cancer over the last 30 years, including the 2-days October’s meeting on the “Advances in Breast Cancer Management” he organizes annually since 1996, and he has lectured extensively as an invited speaker at national and international congresses. He is recipient of a number of scientific awards during congresses and honorary awards for his work with breast cancer patients.
