It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the official website of the Department of Anatomy – “Anatomeio” of the Medical School of NKUA.
The purpose of my warm greeting is to present the objectives of the Laboratory.
The Department of Anatomy – “Anatomeio” is a powerful, internationally recognized and aims to become a pioneer in research field and education of students and young doctors. This dedication to excellence is reflected in the remarkable research work of the academic staff and in the professional recognition of its scientific collaborators.
The aim of the new, fully upgraded and modern educational programme is the thorough training and multifocal education of students by organizing training seminars and workshops at the “Anatomeio”.
Today, the education of the students of Medical School, the School of Dentistry and the Department of Pharmacy, is done using modern and asynchronous technologies through video conferencing which is enriched with specially designed presentations, with modern multimedia, teaching 3D anatomy in digital video banks with Anatomage Tables, in electronic anatomical navigators, with the aim of a more complete approach to the subject of anatomical science. In addition, a digital library was created where educational material is collected and stored and there is the possibility for our student’s education.
This year, however, is different, with unprecedented situations in many areas of our daily lives. The Covid-19 pandemic we are experiencing prevailed and the Laboratory, realizing the dimensions and effects of the pandemic, reshaped the way of teaching its courses, fully respecting all the involved fields. Undoubtedly, all these issues raise a general feeling of insecurity in our society and the university community.
With this message I would first like to greet our students of the undergraduate, and postgraduate level, the PhD candidates in the Department of Anatomy – “Anatomeio” of the Medical School of NKUA.
Despite the fact that both last year’s courses and exams were transferred to the web, the entire teaching staff of the Laboratory worked hard to offer excellent academic lectures as well as to support new teaching methods and new platforms.
Finally, through a temporary crisis, a unique opportunity emerges with an ally of the excellent relationship between teachers and students, along with modern technology, the Laboratory is constantly upgraded and is now evolving into one of the most modern Laboratories in our country.
It is in the hands of all of us to seize the opportunity!
